Lori Perver, LMHC, EDTC

Lori Perver is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Eating Disorder–Trained Clinician, Doctoral Researcher, and the founder of Discovering Purpose Mental Healthcare. With over a decade of clinical experience, she has built a practice rooted in the belief that symptoms are not random — they are meaningful — and that lasting healing comes from understanding, not just managing, pain.

Her clinical journey began in 2015 within Florida's Juvenile Justice System, where she supported male adolescents facing complex behavioral and emotional challenges. She went on to work across community mental health, crisis stabilization, and substance use recovery settings, building deep expertise in Trauma-Informed Care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and integrated treatment approaches.

Today, Lori leads a growing group practice while continuing to work directly with clients. Her approach blends evidence-based interventions with a focus on identity development, emotional insight, and authentic therapeutic connection. She specializes in high-risk and complex presentations including disordered eating, mood disorders, self-destructive patterns, and relational instability — helping clients move from survival-based cycles to a more empowered, intentional way of living.

In addition to her clinical work, Lori is currently pursuing her doctorate in Developmental Psychology, with a research focus on Identity Formation in the Digital Age, the Intersection of Mood Disorders, Cognition, and Environment. She also develops evidence-informed educational resources — worksheets, guides, and clinical content — for clients, families, and fellow clinicians.

Megan Malik

Megan Malik is a Registered Mental Health Counseling (MHC) Intern who brings warmth, attentiveness, and a deep respect for each client's unique healing journey. Her work is rooted in mindfulness and compassion — she believes that meaningful change happens through genuine connection, not pressure or judgment, and she meets clients wherever they are in their process.

Megan integrates a range of evidence-based approaches — including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — tailoring each to the individual. Whether a client is navigating overwhelming emotions, life transitions, relational challenges, or simply seeking space to reconnect with themselves, Megan offers a grounded, supportive presence that honors both the practical and the emotional dimensions of wellbeing.

Her style is collaborative and attuned — she works alongside clients rather than directing from a distance, prioritizing their voice and pace throughout the therapeutic relationship. For those seeking therapy that blends clinical skill with genuine human empathy, Megan offers a space where growth feels both possible and sustainable.

Tamar Abisror

Tamar Abisror is a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Intern dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges, deepen connection, and create meaningful, lasting change. She brings a relational lens to all her work — understanding that who we are is shaped by the relationships and contexts we move through, and that healing often happens in that same relational space.

Tamar draws primarily from attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed practice, using these frameworks to help clients understand their patterns, communicate more effectively, and build the relationships they want. She has a particular passion for working with intimacy and communication, and is pursuing advanced training in sex therapy to offer knowledgeable, compassionate care in this deeply personal area of life.

Therapy with Tamar is genuinely collaborative — she works with clients to understand their story, clarify goals, and build toward the life and relationships they envision. Her space is safe, nonjudgmental, and grounded in the conviction that every person deserves to feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.

Beatriz “Betty” Peraza, EDTC

Beatriz "Betty" Peraza is a Registered Mental Health Counseling (MHC) Intern, Eating Disorder–Trained Clinician, whose practice is grounded in compassion, presence, and the profound capacity of the mind to heal. She holds a Master's degree in Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and completed an intensive 11-month clinical residency at the Design Neuroscience Center in Miami Lakes, FL — where she gained extensive experience in neuropsychological assessment and neurofeedback treatment using the Muse II system to enhance cognitive function, focus, and emotional regulation.

Betty specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and faith-based counseling — tailoring her approach to meet each client with openness and without judgment. Her clinical interests are wide-ranging, with particular depth in neuropsychology, neurobiology, complex trauma, and perinatal and postpartum wellness. She works with individuals across the lifespan and holds a deep belief that true wellbeing emerges when body, mind, and soul are in alignment.

At the heart of Betty's work is a commitment to creating a safe, nurturing space where clients feel fully seen and understood — whether navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, emotional dysregulation, or simply seeking more harmony in daily life. She walks alongside each person on their path toward healing, hope, and a more integrated sense of self.

Sevonte Miller, LCSW

Sevonte Miller is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in helping individuals break through persistent cycles of depression, anxiety, anger, and trauma. His clinical philosophy is built on the conviction that true healing requires honoring both the echoes of the past and the practical demands of the present — and that therapy should move clients well beyond symptom management toward deep, lasting change.

Sevonte's practice integrates two evidence-based frameworks with particular depth and skill. Through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), he helps clients process "stuck" traumatic memories — reducing their emotional charge and freeing clients from being repeatedly triggered by the past. Through DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), he equips clients with a concrete toolkit for managing intense emotions, navigating conflict, and building present-moment awareness through mindfulness and distress tolerance skills.

Whether a client is carrying a persistent sense of heaviness, experiencing the physical toll of chronic stress, or struggling with emotional reactions that feel outside their control, Sevonte works collaboratively to build resilience and clarity. His goal is always the same: to help clients move toward a life that feels balanced, empowered, and authentically their own.

Partnerships

Tamara Edelstein-Snider, APRN, PMHNP

Discovering Purpose Mental Healthcare and Trident Healthcare share more than office space — we share a philosophy. Both practices are grounded in the belief that healing is most effective when it addresses the whole person, and our partnership makes that possible in a tangible, coordinated way. Clients of DPMH have the benefit of accessing Trident's full spectrum of medical and psychiatric services right here in the same building, with providers who communicate and collaborate on their care.

Trident is led by Tamara Edelstein-Snider, APRN, PMHNP — a psychiatric nurse practitioner who brings clinical precision and genuine warmth to every patient encounter. Her team offers psychiatric medication management for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and more, as well as comprehensive primary care including annual physicals, chronic disease management, lab work, and sick visits. For clients navigating both a mental health journey and medical concerns, having this level of coordinated access in one location is a meaningful advantage.

ExoMind — FDA-Cleared Brain Therapy is an advanced transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) system that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate neuroplasticity in key brain regions involved in mood, focus, and emotional regulation. FDA-cleared for major depressive disorder and used clinically for anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and cognitive fatigue, it is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment with no sedation and no recovery time needed. Sessions run 25–30 minutes, and most patients notice meaningful improvement in mood, mental clarity, and emotional resilience within a few weeks. It's a particularly powerful option for clients whose symptoms haven't fully responded to therapy or medication alone.

Additional services available through Trident Healthcare:

Psychiatric Care — Medication management for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders in a collaborative, nonjudgmental environment that complements ongoing therapy; Primary Care — Annual physicals, chronic condition management, lab work, and sick visits, coordinated alongside your mental health care; Hormone Replacement Therapy — Personalized HRT for patients managing hormonal shifts that affect mood, energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing; IV Therapy & Wellness — Targeted nutrient infusions including the Myers Cocktail and specialty blends to boost energy, mental clarity, immunity, and recovery; Weight Loss Programs — Medically guided weight management combining GLP-1 injections, Lipo-C, nutrition coaching, and ongoing clinical support; EmSculpt Neo & EmTone — Non-invasive body contouring and cellulite reduction using radiofrequency and electromagnetic energy — no surgery, no downtime.

Whether a client needs a medication evaluation, a physical, or something more targeted like ExoMind brain therapy, Trident's team is a trusted next step — and one we're proud to offer as an in-house extension of the care we provide here.

Scott Wiseman

Scott Wiseman is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Intern with over 30 years of clinical experience spanning addiction treatment, behavioral health, and crisis intervention. Grounded in both theory and lived experience as a husband, father, and grandfather, Scott brings a steady, measured presence to his work — one that clients often describe as both warm and anchoring.

His therapeutic approach was shaped by two influential figures in modern psychology: Leo Buscaglia, whose work helped define the humanistic, person-centered tradition, and Psychiatrist, David Viscott, who emphasized emotional courage, personal responsibility, and the importance of confronting the internal narratives that sustain suffering. From these foundations, Scott developed a style that balances genuine relational warmth with thoughtful structure — because in his view, therapy is not passive. Growth requires both compassion and courage.

A core insight from Scott's career is that most behavioral struggles are not isolated diagnoses — they are patterns rooted in emotional dysregulation, shame, identity conflict, and unexamined coping systems. His work focuses on helping clients build internal stability and move toward a life that feels intentional rather than reactive.

Scott has worked extensively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, including two decades of affirming clinical work within the LGBTQIA+ community. That experience informs a consistently inclusive, culturally responsive approach. He integrates cognitive-behavioral strategies, emotional regulation tools, motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, and trauma-informed principles — all within a relational, person-centered framework that honors each client's unique story and pace.

Jay Jannett

Jay Jannett is a Registered Clinical Social Work (CSW) Intern with experience providing both individual and group therapy across a range of settings — including crisis stabilization, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and traditional outpatient care. That breadth of experience has given him a grounded, adaptable clinical presence that translates well across the diverse needs of the clients he works with.

At the heart of Jay's practice is a deeply held belief: that seeking therapy is an act of courage. He understands that reaching out for support is often one of the most difficult steps a person takes, and he considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they do. His therapeutic space is safe, nonjudgmental, and built on genuine trust — a place where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to pursue the changes that matter most to them.

Jay draws from a range of evidence-based approaches — including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — tailoring each to the individual. He recognizes that every person's journey is unique, and works collaboratively with clients to build on their existing strengths while developing new skills and pathways forward.

Jay holds a core conviction that all people are worthy of love, dignity, and compassion — regardless of their circumstances or what they've been through. His goal is a therapeutic relationship grounded in authenticity, warmth, and hope, where clients can reconnect with their own resilience and create lasting, meaningful change. Outside of the therapy room, he can be found cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers, getting lost in a good book, or spending time with his dog.
